union (espacio para artistas) is an artist residency and gallery space located in Mexico City

union residence offers a studio space and accommodation in Mexico City at Escandon neighborhood.

The duration of the residency could vary between one and two months.

We accept any art discipline that can be exercised in our creation space.

Painting, Mixed visual media, Performance, and Video among others.

As a very small structure, we offer a hands-off approach to the concept of art residency.

Therefore artists are invited to organize their schedules and projects.

unión + The Lab Program

In addition, we have started a 4-week collaboration with The Lab Program Art Research & Mobility Network, an art lab based in Mexico City, offering a personalized mentoring program for art practitioners whose main interest is focused on site-specific art making, embodiment and spatial narratives, regardless of their disciplinary background, origin or artistic experience.

This collab is a great asset that can be useful for those art practitioners who navigate with time-based, urban and spatial narratives.

Concept

Union Artist Residency provides a supportive environment for artists to reflect on their practice and pursue projects in the context of Ciudad de México

We are part of a city-wide effort to revive the area and promote diversity. As such, we are inviting artists to immerse themselves in the local arts, culture, and crafts and then present their work to the local community.

Artists are encouraged to communicate with us before their stay to ensure we plan for any special needs.

union gallery is an independent contemporary artist-run space dedicated to artists and curators in process of consolidation in order to develop a wider community of art projects.

The residence consists of a whole apartment located at colonia Escandon, near museums such as Tamayo, Modern Art, Anthropology, art galleries, and artist studios.

Walking distance to other neighborhoods as Condesa & Roma.

Well connected to subway, metrobus lines and rental bikes.

Clean and sunny spaces with lots of ventilation.

Luminous studio with terrace.

Workshop space with tools available, located at 40 mins away from residency, plenty power tools available.

Comfortable room ideal for 1-2* guests.

Bedroom includes full sized bed and closet.

Kitchen, microwave, fridge and necessary plates and utensils.

Bathroom / Towels.

WiFi.
